Graduate Alumni

Victoria was with the EMP Lab from 2013 until 2020 and defending the PhD. in the summer of 2020. Victoria graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012 with a degree in Psychology and managed Dr. Cameron’s lab at the University of Iowa in 2013. Victoria is interested in social emotions such as empathy (and why we don’t have it), anger (and why we’re afraid of it), and moral judgment (and why we mostly just judge marginalized people). Specifically, Victoria is interested in how individual, group, and situational factors influence our perception of different social emotions and how those emotions are transformed into subsequent moral behavior. Victoria received an M.A. at the University of Iowa, and for the 2016-2017 academic year studied at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden as part of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. In 2020, Victoria moved on to take a post-doctoral fellowship with Jay Van Bavel at New York University.
